Lyudmyla Oleksandrivna*, an elderly woman from Druzhkivka, Donetsk Oblast, lost her Ukrainian passport due to a fire that occurred as a result of a drone strike on her house.
To restore her passport, Lyudmyla Oleksandrivna applied to the territorial office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine (SMS). However, at the time of her application, the Druzhkivka City Sector of the SMS was not issuing passports. Confused and not knowing what to do next, Lyudmyla Oleksandrivna learned from her friends about the Dialogue of Communities Charitable Organization and decided to seek help.
Lawyer Natalia provided a consultation, explained the algorithm of actions and registered the woman in the electronic queue on the portal of the State Migration Service of Ukraine. Due to the large number of appeals to the migration service in Kramatorsk, the city closest to Druzhkivka, it was impossible to get an electronic coupon. Therefore, it was decided to submit documents for passport renewal in Sloviansk.
Everything went well, and Lyudmila received a new passport. Thanks to this, she can now apply to government agencies for compensation for her destroyed house and register for humanitarian aid, which she could not receive before due to the lack of a document.
This free assistance was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the NGO “Dialogue of Communities” with the Danish Refugee Council and funding from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine.
