Anna, her husband and adopted child were forced to move to a safer place because of the fighting in Yenakiyevo, Donetsk Oblast.
After a while, the family needed an important document - a court decision on adoption issued in Yenakiyevo. Unfortunately, this decision was lost during the evacuation. The city of Yenakiyevo has been out of the control of the Ukrainian government since 2014, and court cases from this city have not been transferred to the territory controlled by Ukraine. Therefore, the issue of obtaining a duplicate court decision was very important for the family.
The situation was complicated by the fact that the powers of the Yenakiyevo City Court were transferred to the Artemivsk City District Court located in the city of Bakhmut. However, after the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, this court ceased to function.
Hanna was desperate because she did not know where to turn and how to get a copy of the document she needed. In search of help, she turned to the Community Dialogue Charitable Organization. Natalia, a lawyer of the organization, provided a consultation, explained the step-by-step algorithm of actions, drafted several requests to government agencies and helped Anna write a statement to the court to restore the lost proceedings.
Thanks to our joint work, the court decision was reinstated. The family can now take the necessary legal steps, which are very important for their future.
This free legal aid was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the NGO “Dialogue of Communities” with the Danish Refugee Council and funding from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine.
