Legal support helped Mykhailo from Nizhyn officially become his grandmother's guardian.
Mykhailo is currently living and caring for his grandmother on his own, as she has no other relatives. Unfortunately, the war had a negative impact on her health and this year she lost the ability to care for herself. Because of this, Mykhailo decided to officially become her guardian, but he did not know the procedure for guardianship during the war.
He turned to the NGO “MART” for help. Lawyer Dmytro explained the procedure for establishing guardianship and provided a step-by-step algorithm for collecting documents to prepare a statement of claim to the court. In addition, the lawyer provided support to Mykhailo throughout the trial.
Ultimately, the court ruled in favor of Mykhailo and appointed him as his grandmother's guardian. This further facilitates many legal issues that may arise in the situation of caring for an elderly person.
Free legal aid is provided by the NGO “MART” in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the European Union's civil protection and humanitarian aid.
