As part of the project “Civil Society Promoting Resilience in Ukraine”, experts from the Danish Refugee Council conducted a training on “Legal Mechanism for Protection and Support of Victims of Gender-Based Violence” at the Stryi People's House.
As violence against women, in particular domestic violence, is one of the most serious forms of human rights violations, the event was dedicated to the International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Violations of Human Rights and the Dignity of Victims.
The training was attended by specialists who are directly involved in the GBV response mechanism and support for victims in the Stryi territorial community.
During the event, the participants reviewed the main aspects of legal regulation of the activities of all actors in the system of response to gender-based violence and domestic violence, mechanisms for supporting and protecting community victims, with a special focus on protecting and supporting child witnesses of violence.
With the support of experts from the Danish Refugee Council, the participants actively participated in practical exercises aimed at overcoming the problems of a comprehensive response to cases of violence, improving coordination mechanisms between services that provide assistance to affected persons in the community.
The project is being implemented by a Consortium led by the Danish Red Cross in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council and Dignity, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
