Tetiana and her father, Oleh, were forced to leave their home in Donetsk region due to hostilities. Their house was destroyed.
After relocating to a safer region, they independently submitted documents for compensation for destroyed property by applying to the commission under the local self-government authority. However, for a long period of time, they did not receive any response.
Tetiana and Oleh then sought legal assistance from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). A DRC lawyer analyzed the documents, helped draft the application and provided support throughout the entire process.
Soon afterwards, the family received the long-awaited response - a notification confirming the decision to provide compensation and issue housing certificates.
DRC provides free legal aid in Sumy region thanks to funding by the European Union.
