In November 2024, Serhiy, an internally displaced citizen from Mariupol, turned to the lawyer of Caritas Mariupol, Oleksandr.
At the end of August 2024, his father, who lived in the occupied village of Nikolske, Mariupol district, Donetsk region, died. The primary document confirming the death was only a photocopy of a medical certificate. In addition, Serhiy had a photocopy of the death certificate issued in the occupied territory and photos from the cemetery.
The lawyer of the charitable foundation helped to collect all the necessary documents and prepared a statement to the court.
On November 22, 2024, the court granted the application. Thanks to this, Serhiy will be able to officially register the fact of his father's death, which will allow him to resolve issues of inheritance, unpaid pension and other legal issues.
The provision of free legal aid to IDPs in Dnipropetrovs'k region was made possible through the cooperation of Caritas Mariupol with the Danish Refugee Council and funding from the European Union.
