A lawyer of the NGO STEP, a DRC partner, was approached by higher education students with a request to help them prepare documents for financial support under the City Program for Supporting Gifted Youth in Zaporizhzhia.
Previously, young people have repeatedly faced refusals to receive support, which were justified by inconsistencies or incorrectly executed documents of candidates. Therefore, a separate Telegram group was created to systematize information, disseminate a step-by-step algorithm for the candidate's actions and answers to the most common questions, which brought together about 30 people, including students, IDPs and war-affected people.
Thus, duly executed documents received after consultation with a lawyer became a prerequisite for the successful review of candidate profiles and approval of their candidacies for financial support for gifted youth in Zaporizhzhia. At the same time, the Telegram group created even after the approved applications continued to publish information and provide personal support to the candidates.
Thus, the lawyers managed to ensure the clarity and accessibility of information for young people, as well as legal support in preparing documents for obtaining financial support under the city program.
STEP provides free legal aid in Zaporizhzhia region in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (HFU).
