Mr. Vasyl, whose employer refused to pay him his severance pay upon dismissal, turned to the public reception of the MART NGO for help.
After studying the circumstances of the case and legal analysis of the documents provided by the man, the lawyer of the public reception center found that the employer really had no legal grounds for not repaying the existing debt to his former employee. To begin with, the lawyer tried to settle the dispute through conflict mediation. However, this resulted in only partial repayment of the debt. Therefore, the lawyer switched to other standard legal support procedures, including helping Mr. Vasyl to file a lawsuit. These efforts were successful.
Two months after his first appeal, Mr. Vasyl came to the public reception office to share the good news: his claim against his former employer for the recovery of his wages was satisfied by a court decision.
The free legal aid was provided by MART in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the European Union's humanitarian assistance.
