Thanks to the support of a lawyer, Hanna was able to purchase a new home through a government program, since her previous home was destroyed by rocket fire.

In December of last year, Hanna* turned to the lawyer of Caritas Kharkiv BF, a DRC partner: she was unable to submit documents for the state compensation program for destroyed property on her own.

She said that her house, which is located on the outskirts of the village. Zolochiv, Kharkiv region, was completely destroyed during rocket attacks on the border.

Such a case fell under the state compensation program "E-recovery". However, it was difficult for Hanna to understand the conditions for submitting documents.

In order to successfully receive compensation, she turned to the lawyer of Caritas Kharkiv BF. He helped her with filing a notice of destroyed property, as well as an application for receiving compensation under the "E-recovery" program - creating a certificate for the purchase of housing.

Hanna recently put her certificate to good use by purchasing a new home for her family.

BF "Caritas Kharkiv" provides free legal assistance to the war-affected population in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) thanks to the sincere support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance.
