The status of an internally displaced person (IDP) may be lost on the following grounds:
1. Submitting an application for refusal of an IDP certificate: A person may decide to voluntarily renounce the IDP status.
2. Committing a criminal offense: If the person has been convicted of a criminal offense.
3. Return to the place of permanent residence: If a person has returned to their permanent place of residence from which they previously moved.
4. Moving abroad for permanent residence: If the person left Ukraine and chose to take up permanent residence abroad.
5. Submission of false information during registration: If it is found that a person submitted false information when applying for IDP status.
In all these cases, information on the change of status is entered into the Unified Information Database on Internally Displaced Persons.
