Persons who have received temporary protection have the right to free primary medical care in Bulgaria.
Treatment (hospital, surgery) is paid.
People who have temporary protection in Bulgaria and belong vulnerable population groups enjoy the necessary medical care under the same conditions as Bulgarian citizens.
Vulnerable population groups include: minors, unaccompanied minors, the disabled, elderly people, pregnant women, single parents with minor children, victims of human trafficking, persons with serious health problems, persons with mental disorders, and persons who have suffered torture, rape or other severe forms of mental, physical or sexual violence.
Medical insurance for citizens of Ukraine at the age of 18 to 63 years for women and up to 65 for men is provided at the expense of the state within 90 days from the date of granting temporary protection. For persons under the age of 18 and over 63 for women and over 65 for men, health insurance contributions will be made at the expense of the state for the entire period of temporary protection.
Payment of the contribution is made by bank transfer - through a payment transfer or through the Portal of electronic services of the National Revenue Agency.
A medically insured person can freely choose a general practitioner in an ambulatory polyclinic primary care institution, with whom he will conclude a contract.
Every child from Ukraine who received temporary protection in the Republic of Bulgaria has the right to immunization. Vaccinations are also required for the child to attend nurseries, kindergartens, or schools.
Anyone who wants to check a HIV status can do this in the office of anonymous and free consulting and testing at the regional health inspection.
After receiving a confirmatory result for HIV infection from the National HIV Reference Verification Laboratory at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, individuals can receive consultation and treatment in medical facilities.
