What documents are required to cross the border into Ukraine with animals?

Key documents:

A veterinary and sanitary passport of the European standard or a certificate of animal health, which must contain:

  • Information on all mandatory annual vaccinations, including rabies vaccination.
  • Signature and seal of a licensed veterinarian.

A document about chipping an animal:

  • The chip must comply with international standards ISO 11784 or ISO 11785.
  • Information about chipping must be included in the veterinary passport.

Additional requirements:

  • If the animal is transported from countries with an unfavourable epizootic situation, an additional certificate of serological testing for rabies antibodies may be required.
  • Transportation of an animal by air, road, or rail may have additional requirements set by the carrier.

Note:

  • The documents must be executed in the official language of the country where they were issued or contain a translation into Ukrainian, if required by the border services.
