What documents does the owner of a pet must have, if living in Ukraine?

The main documents that an animal owner must have:

1. Veterinary and sanitary passport:

  • An animal passport that contains:
  • Information on vaccinations, including mandatory rabies vaccination.
  • Chipping data (if available).
  • This is the main document confirming the health status of the animal.

2. Veterinary certificate (form No. 1):

  • Required to move the animal:
  • Outside the regions, districts, cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol.
  • Issued by state veterinary institutions after examination of the animal.

3. Veterinary certificate:

  • Required to move an animal within the district.
  • Issued after examination of the animal by a veterinarian.

Special requirements:

  • When moving an animal abroad, additional documents may be required, including:
  • Certificate of international standard.
  • Certificate of rabies antibody test (for some countries).

Note:

  • The owner of the animal must always have up-to-date documents confirming the completion of mandatory vaccinations to avoid fines or other sanctions.
