How to accept an inheritance abroad under martial law?

A person who is abroad and wishes to accept an inheritance can apply for the acceptance of inheritance by mail in the order within the period established by the law on inheritance acceptance. It is worth considering that that in this case, the signature of the heir on the application must be notarised. Furthermore, if the inheritance proceedings in connection with the testator's death have already been opened by any notary in Ukraine, then the application for the inheritance acceptance has to be sent to the same notary.

To notarise the signature on the application for acceptance of inheritance abroad, it is necessary to contact a consular office of Ukraine in the host country.

After the expiration of the deadline for accepting the inheritance, the consular office of Ukraine in the host country or a notary in Ukraine will issue a certificate of heirship to the heir, unless there are any grounds to refuse the issue thereof;
