A driver's license can be exchanged if:
- the driver’s license is unusable (damaged, unreadable, etc.)
- the license holder's details have changed (first name, patronymic, last name, gender – based on a document proving such change)
- the license holder so wishes (e.g., wishes to obtain a new-style driver's license, or have his/her personal details corrected in Latin characters, or have his/her photo replaced, etc.)
- the license has expired.
The driver’s license can be renewed if:
- it has been stolen (the theft should first be reported to the police)
- it has been lost.
In order to renew or exchange a driver's license online, you must log in to the driver's electronic office using a qualified electronic signature (QES), BankID or Diia.Signature.
Next, you need to select “Electronic Services” in the Services menu, find and select “Driver's License Renewal and Exchange” and take the following steps:
- verify your contact details and tick one of the available options in the ‘Choose the Reason’ section
- fill in all the required fields
- choose a suitable service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or a post office where you are going to receive a driver's license
- sign the application using an electronic signature, BankID or Diia.Signature
- pay for the service by credit or debit card
- receive an automatic notification that the application has been submitted and, at this stage, you can already track the change in the application status in the Driver's Electronic Office.
The application will be considered within 5 business days. You can receive a new driver's license in person at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or at the post office of Ukrposhta.
The service fee is around UAH 254 for a driver’s license form and for administrative services provided by the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UAH 294 for logistics costs.
