Traveling conditions

Domestic trips within Hungary are not free for Ukrainian citizens, unless they qualify for a reduced rate with a "solidarity ticket." Discounts are available for Ukrainians, however, according to Government Resolution 85/2007 and the railway company's prices.

If you need to return to Ukraine for a short period of time, such as to see family, collect papers, or for other reasons, your temporary protection status will not be terminated.

In the case of voluntary return to Ukraine, that is, if you return to Ukraine and want to stay, the nation in which you have temporary protection may withdraw your residence permit and terminate your temporary protection rights. If you are concerned that your residence permit may be canceled, we recommend that you contact Hungary's asylum authority (National Police Directorate for Aliens Affairs) for more information.

Travel inside the European Union with the status of a person granted temporary protection is permitted. You have the freedom to travel within the European Union for up to 90 days in a 180-day period under the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. However, temporary protection rights are available only in the nation that issued you a resident permit.
