Conditions for crossing the German border

Documents needed for crossing the German state border: 

- adults – passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travelling abroad or an internal passport of a citizen of Ukraine (the Ukrainian ID card is recognized as a substitute passport document for a limited period of time – until 23 February 2024);

- children – the same documents or a birth certificate.

Lost documents: 

If you lost your passport of a citizen of Ukraine being abroad or if the latter has expired, please contact the relevant Ukrainian consulates according to your current location, for instance:

- contacts of Ukrainian Consulates in Poland – link;

- contacts of Ukrainian Consulates in the Czech Republic – link;

- contacts of Ukrainian Consulates in Austria –  link;

- contacts of Ukrainian Consulates in France – link.

Also, if you don't have documents entering Germany, you can obtain a substitute ID card from the immigration office, which is only valid within Germany. You must provide evidence that you have previously resided in Ukraine.
