Conditions for crossing the border with Latvia

The absence of travel or medical documents will not be an obstacle for the entry of the civilian population of Ukraine to Latvia.

Upon arrival in Latvia through the border crossing points, persons entering with biometric passports will undergo border control.

If the person arrived without a travel document, he will be identified in cooperation with the competent authorities of Ukraine.

A civilian of Ukraine who is in Latvia on the basis of a residence permit must declare his place of residence in Latvia within one month from the moment of receiving such a residence permit. You can find information on how to declare your place of residence in Latvia here.

Applications for the granting of a long-term visa with the right to work in Latvia can be submitted either at the border crossing point, or at the Unified Center for the Support of Residents of Ukraine, Kalku Street, 1, Riga (daily 9-18), as well as at all other branches of the Citizenship Office and migration outside of Riga.

Please note that if your foreign passport expires or your child does not have a foreign passport, you can apply to the Embassy/Consulate of Ukraine to extend the validity of foreign passports and enter the child's data in the parents' passport. This can be done at any diplomatic mission of Ukraine both before entering Latvia and in Latvia.
