Starting in May 2022, Ukrainian residents who have sought for or have already acquired temporary protection in Hungary and have a biometric passport can work in any job without acquiring a separate work permit.
Ukrainians who have not been granted temporary protection status may be employed on the same grounds as third-country nationals. Among these grounds is the need for a separate work permit. The only exceptions to this regulation are experts in labor-shortage industries such as information technology, catering, engineering, and construction, where getting a work permit is not necessary. These personnel must also have a biometric passport.

If you have applied for or been given temporary protection status, or if you are a refugee or have subsidiary protection status, you have the same employment rights as Hungarians (save for jobs needing Hungarian citizenship). It should be noted that you do not require a separate work permit.
