Special programs for Ukrainians in Estonia

Ukrainians who have received temporary protection in Estonia have the right to the same benefits and social benefits as residents of Estonia. To receive assistance, a person should apply to the Department of Social Insurance. The application should include a certificate of temporary protection, an identity document (passport, birth certificate, certificate from the embassy), and details of the bank account to which the aid will be paid.

In particular, Ukrainians can obtain the following types of social benefits:

1) aid for persons who have reached retirement age due to age;

If a person was born in 1959 or earlier, his pension in Ukraine is lower than 336.39 EUR. In that case, such a person can apply to the Department of Social Insurance to cover this difference.

2) accommodation allowance;

You should apply to local self-government bodies in Estonia to receive a housing allowance. Such assistance is paid in the following amounts: EUR 200 for the first family member, EUR 160 for the second family member, and EUR 240 for minor family members.

3) child benefit;

This benefit is 80 EUR for the first and second child in the family and 100 EUR for the third and subsequent children. Starting with the third child, the family is paid an allowance of 450 EUR per month, and from the seventh child – 650 EUR per month.

4) parental compensation;

Parents who arrive in Estonia with a child under 1.5 years old are paid compensation of EUR 725 per month for up to 545 days. The exact number of days of parental compensation depends on the child's age and the start of validity of the parent's residence permit.

5) aid for persons with disability;

To receive disability benefits, you should apply to the Department of Social Insurance and provide documents regarding your health status. If such documents are unavailable, the person should first contact a doctor in Estonia to obtain relevant health documents. Suppose a person's state of health meets the conditions for determining the degree of disability. In that case, its type and degree and the amount of social assistance (between 12.79 and 241.64 EUR) are determined.
