What is the status of “participant of war” and who qualifies today?

The “participant of war” status was intended to recognise those who contributed to wartime efforts without being directly at the front and who provided “non-combat contributions”. It remains applicable only to conflicts of past historical periods and to the ATO/JFO under certain requirements. The category no longer applies to new persons in the context of the current full scale war.
