To enroll a child in preschool, the following documents are required: a birth certificate, a vaccination certificate, and an identity card or passport;

- Primary education - obtained in schools from the ages of six to twelve years (colegios). Admission requirements vary by region, but you will need the following to enroll your child: an identity document, even if temporary, proof of address, and a request for enrollment in the school;

- Basic compulsory secondary education (ESO - Educación Secundaria Obligatoria) - from the ages of 12 to 16, obtained in public secondary education institutions known as institutos or IES - Instituto de Educación Secundaria; if the institution is semi-private or private, it is known as colegio. Admission requirements may also differ by region;

- Complete secondary education - from 16 to 18 years old, obtained at an instituto or IES; if the institution is semi-private or private, it is referred to as a colegio;

- Formación Profesional (FP) - from 16 years old (or 15 in exceptional cases), obtained in instituto, IES, or FP.
