Do I need to change my temporary license?

For the period of martial law and for 1 year after its termination or cancellation, persons with an expired temporary driver's license (which was issued for the first time) are allowed to drive vehicles of the corresponding category. It is not necessary to change such a license during this period.

Can the police fine me?

The police may not impose a fine for driving with an expired temporary driving license if the above provisions apply.

Recommendation:

We advise you to have a printed copy of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 184 dated March 3, 2022 "Some issues of admission of drivers to drive vehicles". This will help to avoid misunderstandings in the event of a traffic stop by police officers.
