The procedure for taking the dead in Ukraine abroad

Citizens cross the Ukrainian border with coffins containing bodies (urns containing ashes) or the remains of the deceased using the following documents:

- a written statement of these citizens in an arbitrary form;

- a death certificate or other document certifying the fact of death, issued by a competent authority;

- forensic medical expert's certificate that there are no deposits in the body and coffin (urn), the movement of which is prohibited across the state border of Ukraine, in the presence of an official of the relevant customs authority.
