Traveling with Temporary protection/Refugee status

Share

If France grants temporary protection, the person may leave the country. Ukrainians holding a biometric passport may, however, travel within the EU for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Persons with an old-style passport must obtain a visa to travel to another country. If for some reason you need to return to Ukraine for a short time, you do not lose your temporary protection status. However, we advise you to consult with the prefecture of your place of residence in France and obtain their approval for travelling to Ukraine.

Persons with refugee status are allowed to travel abroad with a travel document, but they are not allowed to return to their country of origin, except in certain cases of extreme necessity. To do so, they need to submit a request to the prefecture of their place of residence.
