The basis and procedure for paying alimony for a child at the initiative of the payer

In Ukraine, one of the parents can voluntarily initiate alimony payments for a child from their salary, pension, or scholarship.

Procedure:

1. Submission of Application:

• The father or mother submits a written application at their place of employment, pension, or scholarship payments.
• The application should specify the amount and duration of the alimony payments .

2. Deductions of Alimony:

• Based on the application, the employer or relevant authority will make the alimony payments no later than three days from the day the salary, pension, or scholarship is due for payment.

3. Withdrawal of the Application:

• The alimony payer has the right to withdraw their application at any time.

Particularities:

• Payments can be made even if the total amount of deductions exceeds half of the payer's income, or if alimony is already being deducted for another child.
• This voluntary arrangement does not exclude the possibility of alimony being enforced through the court if the recipient believes the amount of the payments is insufficient.
