Documents required for minors to cross the border unaccompanied by their parents

For children aged 16 and older:

  • Minors who have reached the age of 16 can cross the state border of Ukraine on their own without the consent or accompaniment of their parents.
  • Required documents:
  • Passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad.

For children under 16 years of age:

If neither parent is able to accompany a child under 16, the other persons may do so:

1. Grandparents, adult brother, sister, stepmother or stepfather:

  • Documents:
  • Child's passport or birth certificate (in the absence of a passport).
  • Documents confirming kinship:
  • Birth certificate.
  • Marriage certificate (if necessary).
  • A certificate of paternity.

2. Other persons (not relatives):

  • Documents:
  • Written application of one of the parents, certified by the guardianship and custody authority.
  • Passport or birth certificate of the child.

Special conditions during martial law:

  • The notarized consent of the other parent is not required for a child under 16 years of age to travel with a parent.

Recommendations:

  • Before crossing the border, check with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine or the relevant border crossing point for the documentary requirements.
