1.1. The Commissioner has the authority to coordinate the search for persons missing in special circumstances and to deal with other related issues.

 

1.2. In particular, the Commissioner is responsible for contacting relatives of missing persons and informing them of the search status and results. In addition, the Commissioner, working in collaboration with the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other agencies, can set up and coordinate activities of search teams (humanitarian missions) engaged in searching for persons missing in special circumstances and their remains and in locating and documenting burial places.

 

1.3. The Commissioner collects information that may help in the search for missing persons and sends requests to state authorities, local self-government authorities, public associations, and international humanitarian organisations.
