When do you need to register a vehicle?

The vehicle must be registered within 10 calendar days from the date of transfer of ownership (e.g., conclusion of a sale and purchase agreement, donation, etc.).

What happens if the registration deadline is missed?

  • The first case of violation: The patrol police may impose a fine of UAH 850.
  • Repeated violation within a year: The fine will be 1700 hryvnias, and a possible assignment:
  • Community service (30 to 40 hours);
  • Paid seizure of the vehicle (or without it).
  • In order to avoid fines, you should contact the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the Center for the Provision of Administrative Services (CAS) in a timely manner with all the necessary documents:
  1. Identity documents:
  • Passport of a citizen of Ukraine or other identity document.
  • Registration number of the taxpayer's account card (identification code).
  1. Documents confirming the ownership of the vehicle:
  • Purchase and sale agreement.
  • Donation agreement.
  • Act of acceptance and transfer.
  • Other documents confirming the transfer of ownership.
  1. Documents on technical condition or customs clearance (if required):
  • Customs declaration (for cars imported from abroad).
  • Certificate of conformity of the vehicle design with the established requirements.
  1. Registration documents for the vehicle (if already registered):
  • Previous registration certificate.
  • License plates (if any).
  1. Receipt of payment of mandatory payments:
  • Payment of the administrative fee for vehicle registration.
  • Payment of the mandatory state pension insurance fee (for cars registered in Ukraine for the first time).
  1. A power of attorney (if necessary):
  • If the documents are submitted by the owner's representative.

The registration period is 1 business day from the date of submission of all required documents.
