The automatic granting of temporary protection status does not automatically provide Ukrainian citizens with health insurance. After obtaining a residence permit, you need to apply for health insurance on the same terms as Estonian residents. For Ukrainians, the Estonian authorities have developed a brochure with detailed instructions on how Ukrainians can access health insurance and which categories of people are eligible for it.
Ukrainians are entitled to free general health check-ups, family doctor assistance, emergency medical and dental care, COVID-19 testing and vaccination, prescriptions for free medications, assistance for people with HIV, tuberculosis and those on substitution therapy.
Important! Medical consultations can be obtained by calling the family doctor consultation line at 1220. In case of emergencies, you can call 112.
