Do you need to pay a mortgage loan for a home that is located in a zone of active hostilities?

Share

A borrower whose home is located in the area of active hostilities has the right to apply to the lender for a suspension of payment of a monetary obligation, which includes

  • principal amount of the loan
  • interest
  • commissions;
  • other payments stipulated by the agreement.

How to apply:

1. Filling in the application:

  • The application must be signed in person or by applying a qualified electronic signature (QES).

2. Submission of the application:

  • Provided or sent to the lender in the original.
  • In the case of an electronic signature, it is submitted through the electronic communication channels specified by the lender.

3. Required documents:

  • Documents confirming that the property is located in the area of hostilities (e.g. a certificate from the local government, extract from the registers, etc.).

Important:

  • Suspension of payment of a monetary obligation does not mean a complete release from the debt, but the obligations under the agreement will be fulfilled after the termination of martial law or other agreement with the lender.
  • The specific terms of the suspension of payments may vary depending on the bank's policy and the borrower's circumstances.

It is recommended that you contact the banking institution that issued the loan for detailed explanations tailored to your situation.
