One day, Yurii, an internally displaced person, discovered that he could no longer withdraw funds from his social benefits card. It turned out that his account had been frozen due to a court-ordered seizure. This created a serious financial hardship for him.
Yurii reached out for help from a lawyer at the NGO “Institute for Analytics and Advocacy.”The lawyer confirmed that the seizure violated current legislation and judicial practice, as social benefits are legally protected from such enforcement measures. She prepared a formal request to the state enforcement officer to lift the seizure and attached a certificate from the bank confirming that the account received social assistance payments.
Thanks to the proper preparation of the request and submission of all necessary documentation, the state enforcement officer removed the seizure from Yurii’s bank account. This enabled him to once again receive social support for his daily needs, significantly improving his financial stability and living conditions.
Free legal aid in Poltava Oblast is provided by the NGO “Institute for Analytics and Advocacy” in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), with funding from the European Union.
