The family purchased a new home shortly before February 24, 2022, and planned to legally formalize the purchase in early March. But the war zone quickly approached Vuhledar. The family found themselves in a quandary: the house was damaged, and the registration of ownership, without which compensation is impossible, is carried out only by a local notary.
Yuriy turned to the lawyers of Caritas Mariupol, a DRC partner organization. They explained to the family how to register their rights in the state registers and helped them collect the necessary documents. In addition, Yuriy received financial assistance to pay for legal fees.
The court upheld the claim, and Yuriy's family received all the documents for the apartment they had purchased. Now they have every right to apply for the compensation they are entitled to.
The free legal aid was made possible thanks to humanitarian aid from the European Union.
