A mother raising a child on her own turned to the lawyers of DRC Chernihiv office with a problem that seemed hopeless. She lived in a community that was constantly under shelling and could not register her child's place of residence because of the lack of consent from her foreign father, who lives abroad. She had no contact with him, and diplomatic relations with his country of residence were severed.

The ASC refused to register the child, which made it impossible for him to access education and social services.

DRC's lawyers took up the case: they collected all the necessary evidence, prepared a statement of claim and substantiated in detail the need for judicial intervention. It was proved that the lack of registration violates the rights of the child and creates significant difficulties for the mother.

After reviewing the case file, the court ruled in favor of the mother. It recognized that the registration of the child's place of residence was necessary to protect the child's interests and allowed it to be carried out without the father's consent.

This decision was an important step in ensuring the rights of the child, confirming that legal support can solve even the most difficult situations.

The legal aid was made possible by funding from the European Union.
