Legal aid for victims of the war in the Zaporizhzhia region

The house of Mrs. Elena and her late husband was damaged by one of the shellings in Zaporozhye, and the woman was forced to rent another house.

Unfortunately, for a long time after the loss of her husband, she did not receive any compensation for the loss of a member of her family and faced numerous bureaucratic difficulties. Her attempts to receive monthly cash assistance as a person whose housing was damaged and payments from the Zaporizhzhya City Council were unsuccessful due to constant denials and cancellations of payments to IDPs.

Olena turned to the lawyer of the public organization "Step" for help. Thanks to complex legal support, the necessary package of documents was prepared for applying to the Central United District Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support and the Center for Provision of Administrative Services.

As a result of the legal assistance, Ms. Olena received both monetary assistance for the loss of her husband and compensation for damaged property, including the cost of renting a new home. This greatly eased her financial situation and made it possible to return to a more stable life.

The public organization "STEP" provides free legal aid in the Zaporizhzhia region in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) thanks to the funding of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF).
