Obtaining the status of a person with a war-related disability
While carrying out territory cleaning works at an enterprise located in an area affected by hostilities, Petro discovered explosive ordnance. As a result of its detonation, he sustained severe bodily injuries.
In order to clarify the scope of available social guarantees, as well as to obtain the status of a person with a war-related disability, Petro sought legal assistance from DRC.
A DRC lawyer analysed the submitted documents and the circumstances of the incident, ensured the preparation of the required package of documents, and submitted an application to the Interdepartmental Commission under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine to establish the fact of injuries sustained as a result of hostilities.
Following the review, the Interdepartmental Commission adopted a positive decision, which served as the basis for granting Petro the status of a person with a war-related disability and for assigning the corresponding pension payments.
Petro positively assessed the assistance provided and noted that professional legal support enabled him not to remain alone with bureaucratic procedures and to effectively realise his legal rights.
DRC provides free legal aid in Sumy region thanks to funding provided by the European Union.
