Due to the war, Inna and her husband were forced to relocate to Poltava. Unfortunately, at their new place of residence, Inna systematically suffered from domestic violence—both physical and psychological. She experienced nervous breakdowns, had to seek emergency medical assistance, and called the police on several occasions.

Eventually, Inna found the courage to hold the perpetrator accountable. She shared the details of the abuse—which had resulted in serious injuries—with Daria, a lawyer from the NGO "Institute of Analytics and Advocacy". The lawyer advised her to gather evidence, such as screenshots of messages, and to urgently consult a doctor. The doctor diagnosed a traumatic brain injury and called the police to document the incident.

After receiving treatment, Inna submitted a statement to the police regarding the domestic violence and the physical harm caused. As a result, a criminal case was initiated, and the incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (URPTI). Inna was officially recognized as a victim. She is now on the path to justice: a pre-trial investigation is underway, and a forensic medical examination has been conducted.

Free legal aid in Poltava Oblast is provided by the NGO "Institute of Analytics and Advocacy" in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and with funding from the European Union.
