As part of its own projects to help refugees and internally displaced persons, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) will involve specialists from the National Bar Association of Ukraine to provide free legal aid to citizens of Ukraine (NAAU).
The relevant memorandum of understanding was signed by Alix Françoise Marie Journou, representative of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine, and Lydia Izovitova, head of NAAU, RAU.
According to the document, cooperation will be carried out by involving specialists, in particular representatives of NAAU abroad, on the digital platform of legal assistance PravoVsim, to the provision of free legal assistance to citizens of Ukraine who, as a result of armed aggression, were forced to move temporarily, became refugees or persons under special protection, and therefore need qualified legal assistance.
The mandate of the DRC provides for the provision of assistance to the affected sections of the population, while the NAAU undertakes to support and implement the humanitarian principles of the DRC. It is a joint effort to ensure access to qualified legal assistance to those who need it most.
Oleksii Halkin from DRC and Alexandr Chernykh from NAAU in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have been identified as contact persons for the coordination of joint activities from the Ukrainian side.
This cooperation aims to improve the availability of legal aid and support those who find themselves in difficult life situations. Together we can help more people get justice and protect their rights.
Free legal aid is provided by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with funding from the European Union's civil protection and humanitarian aid.
