Ms. Alesi's family of immigrants has two young children who, in search of safety, were forced to leave their familiar surroundings, home and best friends in their hometown.

Alesya learned about the possibility of obtaining the status of a child who suffered as a result of military actions and armed conflicts, which would allow her children to eat at school for free, but she did not know where to apply for this and what documents to provide.

Eduard, a lawyer at the Western Regional Free Legal Aid Center, a DRC partner, provided professional legal advice, checked the family's available documents and helped draw up an application for granting the appropriate status to Alesi's children.

Based on the results of consideration of appeals, the family received positive decisions. Now Alesi's children can eat for free at school.

Free legal aid for migrants in the Transcarpathian region became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Western Interregional Center for the Provision of Free Legal Aid with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) for funding within the framework of humanitarian aid from the European Union.
