Notify the relevant services:

  • Immediately notify the vehicle administration (conductor, ship captain, airline crew).
  • The vehicle administration notifies the appropriate authorities: police, medical service or transport security.

Actions at the scene:

  • Until the appropriate services arrive, secure the scene and leave the body unaltered.
  • The vehicle administration draws up an incident report in which all information about the person is recorded, if available.

State registration of death:

  • Death registration can be carried out at the nearest civil registry office (registry office) upon application:
  • Relatives of the deceased.
  • Administration of the vehicle (train, ship, airplane).
  • Other authorized persons.

Documents for registration:

  • Medical death certificate issued by a medical professional on board or after examination by the medical service.
  • In the absence of a certificate, other documents confirming the fact of death.

Deadlines for submitting an application:

  • An application for death registration shall be submitted no later than three days from the date of death or discovery of the body.
  • If it is impossible to obtain a medical certificate or a death certificate, it must be submitted within five days.

Transportation of the body:

  • The vehicle's administration coordinates further actions to transport the body to the burial site or hands it over to local authorities.
