Regulation of dog walking:

Rules for keeping animals are established by local governments.

  • General provisions that are common to many communities:
  • Dogs are allowed:
  • In the adjacent territories on the back or technical side of the building.
  • In exclusion zones along roads, under power lines, and in sanitary zones around gas stations.
  • In forests, forest plantations, wastelands, areas that are not frequented, and on river banks.
  • Requirements for owners while walking:
  • Ensure the safety of the animal and other people.
  • Provide the animal with a collar with a personalized license plate.
  • Walk the dog on a leash:
  • Obligatory.
  • For potentially dangerous breeds and dogs recognized as dangerous - on a short leash (up to 1.2 m) and muzzled.

Responsibility for violation of the rules:

1. Administrative liability:

  • For walking in the wrong place or without observing safety rules:
  • A warning or a fine in the amount of UAH 170 to 340 (10-20 tax-free minimum incomes).

2. Increased liability:

  • In the event that walking an animal causes damage to people or property, liability may ensue:
  • Civil liability for damages.
  • Criminal liability in case of serious consequences.

Note:

  • Owners are advised to familiarize themselves with the specific pet regulations established by their local government in their community.
