According to international standards and Ukrainian legislation, the basic rights of a child include the following:

1. The right to life:

  • Every child has the right to life from the moment of birth.

2. The right to a nationality and a name:

  • Every child has the right to a first name, surname, nationality and birth registration.

3. The right to health care:

  • Children have the right to access to health care and appropriate treatment.
  • Protection of health and creation of safe conditions for development.

4. The right to education:

  • Guaranteed access to free primary and secondary education.

5. The right to safe living conditions:

  • Ensuring conditions for full physical, mental and emotional development.

6. The right to rest and leisure:

  • The ability to participate in entertainment, cultural and sports activities.

7. The right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion:

  • Children have the right to express their thoughts and beliefs while respecting the rights of others.

8. The right to protection from violence and exploitation:

  • Protection from any form of physical, psychological or economic violence.

9. The right to a family:

  • To live with family or in foster care if there is no family.

10. The right to participate in cultural life:

  • The opportunity to engage in creativity, intellectual activity and participate in cultural events.
