What are the Territorial Defence Forces (TRO), and what rights do their members have?

Share

The TRO were formally established on 1 January 2022 as a separate branch of the Armed Forces, replacing earlier reservist brigades. TRO servicemen are subject to the same statutes, laws and social protections as other branches. While their main tasks include regional defence, counter sabotage and order maintenance, many units have engaged in frontline combat. TRO members receive salaries and combat pay, hold military ranks, and are entitled to participant in hostilities status and, if severely injured, the status of person with a war related disability.
