A foster family is a family that voluntarily takes one to four orphaned children or children deprived of parental care for upbringing and cohabitation.
Foster parents provide care, education, and development for the children, creating conditions as close as possible to a family environment.
How a Foster Family is Established:
1. Application:
Individuals wishing to create a foster family submit an application to:
District state administrations.
Executive committees of city councils.
District authorities in Kyiv and Sevastopol.
2. Review of the Application:
The relevant authority examines the application, evaluates the living conditions, and checks the candidates' readiness to perform the duties of foster parents.
3. Agreement:
A standard agreement on the placement of children in the foster family is signed between the foster parents and the governing body.
Features:
A foster family does not acquire the legal status of the children's parents but is responsible for their upbringing.
Children placed in a foster family retain their status as orphans or children deprived of parental care.
