What does the "Affordable Medicines" medical program provide?

The ‘Affordable Medicines’ medical programme provides an opportunity to receive medicines free of charge or with a partial co-payment for the treatment of common chronic diseases.

List of diseases covered by the programme:

  • Cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, coronary heart disease, etc.);
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus;
  • Bronchial asthma;
  • Mental and behavioural disorders;
  • Epilepsy;
  • Diabetes insipidus;
  • Chronic diseases of the lower respiratory tract.

How to get medicines under the programme:

  • Visit a doctor who has a signed contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).
  • The doctor writes an electronic prescription based on medical indications.
  • The patient receives an SMS code of the prescription or a printed prescription certificate.
  • Medicines can be obtained at any pharmacy that participates in the ‘Affordable Medicines’ programme.

How to find a pharmacy:

  • Call 1677 (NHSU contact centre) to find out the address of pharmacies that work under the programme;
  • Look for pharmacies labelled ‘Affordable Drugs’.

Important:

  • Medicines are provided only with a prescription.
  • If medicines are included in the programme, they are provided free of charge or with a small co-payment.

Note: The list of medicines is regularly updated, so check with your doctor or pharmacy for availability.
