Registration of death abroad.

Who carries out death registration:
- Registration of the death of a citizen of Ukraine abroad is carried out by the consul of Ukraine.
Where the registration is carried out:
- At the last place of residence of the deceased.
- At the place of death.
- At the place of discovery of the body.
- At the place of burial.
Who can apply:
- Relatives of the deceased.
- Competent authorities of the host country.
- Administration of the medical institution where the death occurred.
- Other persons.
Required documents:
a. Medical document of death:
- Issued by a medical institution or competent authority in the country of residence.
- The document must be translated into Ukrainian and legalized in accordance with the established procedure.
b. Death certificate:
- Issued by the competent authorities of the host country.
Special cases:
- In case of death of a citizen of Ukraine on the road (on a sea, river, aircraft, train or other vehicle), registration is carried out at the nearest diplomatic mission or consular office of Ukraine.
Obtaining a death certificate:
- The certificate is issued to the close relatives of the deceased.
- The certificate together with the passport document of the deceased may be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for further transfer to relatives.
