Procedure of registration of a car during the martial law.

Share

During the martial law in Ukraine, certain changes were made to the vehicle registration procedure:

  • Temporary registration: Vehicles purchased or imported into the territory of Ukraine during martial law are subject to mandatory temporary state registration at the request of the owner. Temporary registration coupons are issued for such vehicles, which are valid for the duration of martial law and 90 days after its termination.
  • Extension of the registration period: Vehicle owners who were unable to register their vehicles during martial law are obliged to register them within 90 days after the termination or lifting of martial law.
  • Simplified procedure: For some cases, such as restoration of a registration certificate after loss or theft, re-registration in connection with the loss or replacement of a license plate, registration of a vehicle inherited from a family, a simplified procedure is provided without a mandatory expert examination.

Documents required for registration:

  • Identity document (passport of a citizen of Ukraine or eDocument).
  • Identification code.
  • A document confirming the legitimacy of the purchase of the vehicle (purchase agreement, customs declaration, etc.).
  • A document confirming that the vehicle design meets the established road safety requirements (for initial registration or re-registration in connection with the installation of gas cylinder equipment).
  • Receipt of payment of the administrative fee.

Note: The sale and purchase agreement can be concluded directly at a service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or notarized.

Please note that the registration procedure is subject to change, so it is recommended that you check the latest information on official resources before taking registration actions.
