Under French law, persons with temporary protection status can carry out business activities either as a sole trader or by registering a legal entity.
Starting from 1 January 2023, business registration can be done through the INPI Single Window, a single platform for declaring business activities.
The procedure for registering as an "auto-entrepreneur"
First, submit an application. You can submit a simplified application for auto-entrepreneur status via the Guichetentreprises.fr website. The list of documents required to start a business is available here.
Taxation and reporting regime
Entrepreneurs usually choose the "auto-entrepreneur" status, which provides for a simplified taxation system. Entrepreneurs with this status can register for tax payments online and are not required to prepare separate financial statements. In addition, such entrepreneurs are entitled to enjoy tax benefits. For more information on the taxation and reporting regimes, please see the link on the website in the section "une fiscalité allégée".
Termination of entrepreneurial activity
You have the possibility to terminate your business activity and thus cancel the registration of your business by updating this change with all competent authorities (tax authorities, Urssaf, Insee, public registers, etc.). Important! The termination of the business must be declared within one month from the date it took place. The declaration can be made in the Single Window. After that, all tax procedures must be completed, a list of which can be found here.
