How to get volunteer status?

1. 1. Who can be a volunteer?

• Citizens of Ukraine.
• Foreigners and stateless persons who are legally in Ukraine.

2. How can I carry out volunteer activities?

• On the basis of an organisation that is officially registered as a volunteer organisation in accordance with the procedure established by law.
• On an individual basis.
• Important! Foreigners and stateless persons can carry out their volunteer activities exclusively on the basis of a volunteer organisation.

3. Do I need to sign a contract?

• Volunteering can be carried out both on the basis of a contract and without it.

4. An agreement is required in the following cases:

• Providing volunteer assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations.
• At the request of the volunteer or his/her legal representative (if the volunteer is between the ages of 14 and 18).
• If the volunteer is entitled to reimbursement of expenses related to the provision of assistance.

5. Is there an official volunteer registration procedure?

• There is no separate procedure for registering volunteers. However, if a volunteer plans to receive funds for volunteering, he or she must register in the Register of Volunteers with the tax authorities.
• Important! Registration in the Register of Volunteers is mandatory if the volunteer wants to avoid taxation of funds received for volunteering.
