How to cross the border of Ukraine driving someone else's car?

To cross the border in someone else's car, you must have one of the following documents:

1. temporary vehicle registration certificate

  • Issued to a person who plans to travel abroad.
  • It is obtained at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Documents required for registration:

  • Passport (ID card with a certificate of residence registration or a passport of a citizen of another country with the right to reside in Ukraine).
  • Certificate of IDP registration (if necessary).
  • A copy of the certificate of RNOKPP (registration number of the taxpayer's account card).
  • Vehicle registration certificate.
  • Passport and RNOCP of the vehicle owner.

Features:

  • The original vehicle registration certificate remains in storage at the MIA service center for the period of validity of the temporary certificate.

2. Notarized power of attorney for the right to use and travel abroad

  • It is issued by the owner of the car to the person who plans to leave.
  • It is certified by a notary.

Required documents:

  • Passport (ID card or other document confirming legal residence in Ukraine).
  • Certificate of IDP registration (if necessary).
  • A copy of the certificate of RNOKPP.
  • Vehicle registration certificate.

Additional requirements:

  1. Compulsory insurance:
  • Get a Green Card, an international motor vehicle liability insurance policy.
  1. Technical condition of the car:
  • The car must meet the technical requirements of the country you are traveling to.
  1. Compliance with customs regulations:
  • Consider the rules for the temporary importation of cars into the destination country.
